Box Seat in Oxblood
Julien is drawn wearing these pieces — an illustration, styled as the items shown, not a photograph of them.
Model: Julien — runs a small contemporary-art gallery, Paris
Why it works
The palette is dark and close, black, charcoal and one deep oxblood, so the coat carries all the color. Oxblood reads rich under theater lights without tipping into costume. It echoes the velvet and lacquer of an opera house instead of competing with it. The black mock-neck and charcoal trousers act as a quiet ground, and the scarf ties the coat's collar to the trousers in tone.
The proportion is long and loose. The strong shoulders and full-length line of the coat set the frame. Wide trousers fall straight beneath it, and the high, tight scarf closes the neck so the silhouette reads as one tall column. Texture does the rest: dense wool, fine rib, a soft wool-blend drape and polished leather at the foot.
For Julien this is formal dress on his own terms. It skips the tie and the stiff suit in favor of tailoring worn loose and a scarf used as structure. It is a color statement from a man who refuses to dress like a white wall, made with one decisive shade rather than many.

How it goes together
A long oxblood overcoat with strong shoulders hangs open over black ribbed knit and loose charcoal wide-leg trousers, with a charcoal wool scarf wrapped high like a collar for a night in the box seats.
